Building Effectiveness Across Boundaries

Interface Consulting, LLC

Workshops We Offer

The image of being an executive is impressive.  For many executives the reality is far more painful and far less satisfying than the casual observer might think.  We diligently select executives to have deep technical knowledge and an ability to see the big picture.  Rarely do these talents guarantee that you will have the skills to traverse the psychological mine field that is today’s executive environment.  Many of the executives we work with claim that sanity is the most likely casualty of years of executive service.

Productive Relationships© for Executives

COURSE RESULTS

· Participants will be able to listen to difficult conversations and understand both the data and the emotional content to open up rather than block communication.  Participants will learn how to stop the mechanism that automatically analyzes, critiques, and problem-solves in every conversation whether needed or not.

· Participants will experience the power of appropriately disclosing emotion for both developing relationships as well as keeping their own sanity.

· Participants will know how to resolve conflict rather than avoid or escalate it.  This non-power approach offers a way to have conflict resolution be a source of relationship building and engagement rather than damage and angst.

· Participants will develop an in-depth understanding of where they err on the continuum of being too responsible versus not responsible enough.  This concept is developed throughout the course in multiple contexts.

· Participants will significantly increase their ability to both give and receive acknowledgement.  Specifically, they learn to close the gap between their competence and their self-confidence — which sabotages so many executives.

The course fee includes a pre-call and 2 one-hour follow-up calls to support the participant’s implementation of the learnings from the course.

Organizations that have participated in Productive Relationships for managers include Procter & Gamble, Steelcase, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Hewlett Packard, Dial Corp., Arizona Public Service, Scottsdale Insurance Co., and Coors Brewing Co.

For twenty-two years PRODUCTIVE RELATIONSHIPS© has equipped managers to not just handle the most difficult people problems, but also to do so with a sense of satisfaction and reduced stress.  Now for the first time we will be offering a session of Productive Relationships© exclusively for executives.  The phrase lonely at the top has never been more true than it is today.  So often the political realities and competitive nature of the executive floor makes sharing frustrations and gaps in knowledge impossible.  There are obvious limitations to burdening subordinates and spouses.  This special session of Productive Relationships© will offer a safe and confidential environment in which to learn.

This course is taught through real life examples and situations that the executives are currently facing rather than case studies, role-plays, or simulations.
